Opening Day Lineup - 2000

Expectations were openingday2000high for the Arizona Diamondbacks after making the play-offs in just their second season. The roster went through several changes as the team continued to tweak the make-up for an extended post season run.

On April 4, 2000 the Diamondbacks hosted the Philadelphia Phillies at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix AZ.

For the second straight year left-handed pitcher Randy Johnson would take the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Opening Day line-up featured four new players from the previous season and one player playing a different position. Newly acquired Tony Womack played shortstop. Erubiel Durazo took over at first base and Travis Lee moved from the infield to left field. Lenny Harris took over third base for the injured Matt Williams and Damian Miller became the starting catcher.

For the first time in franchise history the Diamondbacks won their season opener. The final score Diamondbacks 6 - Phillies 4 in front of 44,298.
