After their openingday1999inaugural season the Arizona Diamondbacks re-tooled their roster bringing in several pieces that would set the stage for an historic run at the play-offs in just their second season.

On April 5, 1999 the Diamondbacks travelled to Los Angeles California to meet the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

Newly signed pitcher Randy Johnson would take the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Opening Day roster featured just three players who were in the line-up a year earlier. Jay Bell started the previous season at shortstop but moved over to second base. Matt Williams played third base, and Travis Lee was the first baseman from 1998.

For the second straight season the Arizona Diamondbacks lost the first game of the year after the Dodgers scored 3 runs in the ninth inning to tie the game sending into extra innings.. The final score this year was Dodgers 8 - Diamondbacks 6 in 11 innings in front of 53,109.

When people come across the site; many of them assume it is managed and maintained by the Arizona Diamondbacks or Major League Baseball Media. That is not the case. It was created out of equal parts of passion and desperation by one fan who at the time had a difficult time finding information about the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team was relatively new and did not yet have a loyal following. Likewise the Internet was just taking off and there were very few sites that provided information about baseball especially the newest franchise.
