The Midsummer
Classic is an opportunity for baseball fans, players, and coaches to recognize that season's best performances through the first half of the season.
For some players it is a validation for all of their hard work.
It is a chance to represent their teams and their fans in a game that can have major implications.
There will always be complaints about how it can become a popularity contest or that not all of the players that should be there are sent but despite the imperfect selection process it is still an amazing sight to see your favorite players playing alongside some of the greats in the game.
It is extra special knowing that if your team's representatives do well and your league wins, it could have post season implications as the game holds home field advantage in the World Series as the ultimate prize.
