After a
disappointing 2000 season the Diamondbacks changed managers and hopefully changed their luck. The roster went through several changes as the team continued to tweak the make-up for an extended post season run.
On April 3, 2001 the Diamondbacks visited the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles CA.
For the third straight year left-handed pitcher Randy Johnson would take the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Opening Day line-up featured three new players from the previous season. Newly acquired Mark Grace played first base. Matt Williams played third base. Danny Bautista would take over right field.
For the second time in franchise history the Diamondbacks won their season opener. The final score Diamondbacks 3 - Dodgers 2 in front of 52,927.
