For the Arizona Diamondbacks the 2022 regular season began on April 7, 2022 with a three-game series against the San Diego Padres at Chase Field. This was the 16th season that the Diamondbacks opened at home. This represents an adjusted schedule after the 99-day labor stoppage, a result of the owners locking out the players.
In the original schedule the Diamondbacks opened with a three game series in Milwaukee followed by three games in Los Angeles against the Dodgers but the first week of the season was cancelled and rescheduled.
The revised season schedule featured visits to Cleveland, Kansas City, Chicago, and Houston to face the American League Central teams. American League opponents appearing at Chase Field included the Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers. The Diamondbacks played two doubleheaders against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 17 and September 20 as part of the rescheduled lockout games. The season concluded with a 3-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on October 3 through October 5 as a make up for the original series scheduled March 31 - April 2.
The Diamondbacks ended the season with a record of 74-88 which is a 22 game improvement over the 2021 season. The 2022 season marked the end of the unbalanced schedule in Major League Baseball.
